There are 2 basic methods of
producing Flour Tortillas The
ingredients are combined in a
large mixer to make dough. The
dough is then fed through a
rounder that forms small dough
balls by weight.
PRESS
The dough balls are go through a
"proffer" then through a HEAT
PRESS that has 2 hot plates that
gently press the dough balls
into shape.
HAND STRETCH
The dough balls are fed through
a "roller" that flattens them
into an oblong shape. Then a
person gently HAND STRETCHES the
oblong tortilla into a circle.
The
"raw" tortilla is then baked
through a oven, cooled with a
multi-tiered conveyor system,
counted, stacked, bagged, sealed
then boxed ready to ship. |
